US Open Venues
The first ever US Open Golf Championship was played in 1895 at Newport, Rhode Island, on a nine-hole course. The tournament has moved between many venues since then, and now, 113 years later, the 2008 US Open will be played at Torrey Pines South Golf Course in San Diego, California.

The US Open has been played all over North America since 1895, with the exception of 1917-1918 and 1942-1945 due to the World Wars.
