2008 US Open Players To Watch

There are a number of stand-out players to watch out for at the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines, San Diego. The most recent winner of the US Open is Angel Cabrera who won at the Oakmont Country Club in 2007, so all eyes will be on him to see if he can pull of a repeat win. There are also a number of other players who will provide good opportunities for US Open golf betting.

An obvious player to back at Torrey Pines in 2008 is Tiger Woods. This is not only because Woods won the US Open in 2000 and 2002 but also because he is very familiar with the Torrey Pines course, due to his regular participation in another tournament held every year at Torrey Pines.

Torrey Pines has never before hosted the US Open, but it does host the Buick Invitational every year. This is significant when considering Tiger Woods for 2008 US Open betting because Woods has done exceptionally well at the Buick Invitational. Tiger Woods won the Buick Invitational in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007. All of these tournaments were played at Torrey Pines, and with Woods winning four of them in five years, it's obvious that he knows and likes the course, so this 2008 US Open player is going to be a force to be reckoned with at Torrey Pines.

Another golfer not to be overlooked is Geoff Ogilvy, who won the 2006 US Open at Winged Foot Golf Club West course. With such a fresh US Open win to his name, the Australian is a strong contender for some lucrative 2008 US Open betting.

Michael Campbell and Retief Goosen are other top players to watch out for. They won the 2005 and 2004 US Opens respectively so are also still quite highly regarded in the tournament and could claim repeat victories.

Finally, Jim Furyk has a string of excellent results to his name in recent years, including winning the 2003 US Open and coming second in 2006 and 2007. Backing him with your 2008 US Open bets could well turn out to be a great move.
